Parliament experts!

It was Parliamentary day on Friday and we really enjoyed learning all about why we have parliament and how it works. We talked about who our current Prime Minister is and how many different parties exist. We also talked about what happens when an election takes place and how many votes you need to form a government. The children worked incredibly hard and were able to discuss why our parliament means we have a democracy. After our discussions, we took part in a debate about whether adverts for foods high in fat and sugar should be shown during children’s tv programs. The children were told which side of the argument they had to debate, and came up with some fantastic arguments for each. We formed the House of Commons in our classroom with each party facing each other and even had a speaker of the house!

Well done Year 4, you certainly are parliament experts!
