This week we have started our dance topic looking at Narnia and mythological creatures. The children were asked to think about how they could portray the different characters through dance and shared their ideas with the rest of the class. We had some fantastic suggestions for how to portray the White Witch and Aslan the lion. I’m really looking forward to seeing our final pieces at the end of term!

Shared lesson
We had lots of fun in our Maths shared lesson at the end of last term. Thank you to all of the adults who came and shared our learning with us!
Anglo Saxon place names
Using maps, we investigated Anglo Saxon place names and found out what they mean. We found out the Banbury and Oxford come from the Anglo Saxon period.
‘bury’ means fortified place
‘ford’ means river crossing
Yahtzee
The children have been working really hard to develop their knowledge of place value and identifying the value of each digit within a 4 digit number. We’ve been playing lots of different games to practice this skill but a firm favourite has been yahtzee, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. We even had a Miss Ross vs the class game where the children won 100 raffle tickets for beating me!
Learning all about sound
This term we have been learning all about sound and have been investigating how sound is made. We discovered that sound is made by vibrations which can travel through different mediums and then enter the ear. We looked at how the vibrations changed with different volumes and pitches and then acted out how the sound wave travels through the ear canal to the brain. At the end of our topic, we made string telephones and investigated different things. We made 4 way conversations and a telephone that stretched the entire classroom. We even investigated to see if the telephones would work outside. It has been lots of fun this term learning all about sound.
Awards
Well done to all of the children who received an award last term. Keep up the hard work 🙂
